joe mixon press conference

Oklahoma Sooners running back Joe Mixon appears to be on a mini media tour ahead of the NFL Combine. Mixon was not invited to the to the combine because of the assault from the summer of 2014, even though talent evaluators believe he could be a first- or second-round draft pick.

Mixon spoke to the Washington Post in a video interview on Sunday.

Some of the key comments from Joe Mixon included the running back saying, “Once [NFL teams] sit down and talk to me for awhile, I feel like things have changed and they’ll know that’s not me from that night. As long as I know that’s not me from that night, I’m not worried about it. … Once they take the time to know me, they’ll see the guy who I really am.”

Mixon added, “I feel like a lot of people don’t really know me. People portray me as one guy, as a bad guy. But at the end of the day, everybody who knows me knows that’s not me … I can’t control what other people think. That’s their thoughts and their feelings. I respect them for it, but at the same time, I know that’s not me.”

Mixon also did an interview Monday morning with Pro Football Talk Live, where he said, “I made a bad decision. Ever since that night I have to live with it. I’ve got to re-live it every day. You can never forget something like that. It still haunts me to this day, but it’s what you do from that point on. You can’t take it back. I can replay it in my head a thousand times, and if I could take it back I would, but I can’t.”
