According to a report, Oklahoma State offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich is interviewing for the same position at Auburn.

In a stunning move last week, former Auburn offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee left for the same position at UConn.

Oklahoma State’s offense scored 38.6 points per game in 2016, good for 17th in the nation.

In the last report I could find, Yurcich was making about $400,000, and would likely receive a major pay raise going to the SEC. By comparison, Lashlee was making about $600,000 at Auburn.

It’s also important to note, SEC Country reports that the new offensive coordinator at Auburn will have total control over the system and play-calling, something head coach Gus Malzahn gave up before the 2016 season.

From some standpoints, I get the allure of this job. Yurcich gets into the SEC, where he can bring a somewhat innovative offense to the conference, coach former Baylor QB Jarrett Stidham, and get a nice pay raise.

Also, if Oklahoma State fans are honest with themselves, then they’ll admit that they have a love-hate relationship with Yurcich, so there may not be a ton of love lost if he leaves.

Pistols Firing Blog wisely points out that, internally, running backs coach Marcus Arroyo could naturally slide into the offensive coordinator role in Stillwater.
