The frustrating season for the Texas Tech Red Raiders continued on Monday when head coach Kliff Kingsbury announced that offensive lineman Justin Murphy has left the team and is retiring due to injuries.
Murphy is only a sophomore and leaves an already thin unit under even more pressure. Murphy only played 5 games in 2015 before getting injured against Baylor.
It’s a sad story for Murphy, but one of his lasting memories will be getting to play against his brother a couple weeks ago, which he posted about on Instagram.
Whether or not this was a sign of things to come we don’t know, but there was this cryptic tweet from Murphy on Saturday prior to playing Oklahoma State.
It does no good to get upset with things you can’t control. That’s why it’s vital you take advantage of the things you can.

Either way, we wish Murphy nothing but the best. And add more offensive linemen to Kliff Kingsbury’s checklist for the 2017 recruiting class. Tough blow.
