Gary Patterson seems to know who his starting quarterback will be against Samford on Saturday.

That doesn’t mean he’s ready to share.

Patterson spoke to the media Tuesday with just a few short days of preparation left before TCU starts its 2014 season at home.

Here are a few highlights from the press conference:

On the quarterbacks’ play during camp:

Patterson: “Anytime you put in anything new, you get to a certain point of time and then you just have to go play a ballgame. You don’t know how people are going to react. I think even Johnny [Manziel] was third-team going into the last scrimmage, second-team, ends up playing and you know the rest of the story. It’s how you play on Saturdays. That’s always been the way quarterbacks have been watched and how they’ve been evaluated for us. They’ll both play. As far as who starts, we’ll let Samford try to figure all that out.”
