Tyrone Swoopes deliberated for a few seconds this week when asked to give a scouting report about what he does best.
To be honest, Swoopes is hardly alone in trying to get a handle on his abilities going into his second start at quarterback at Texas, facing No. 12 UCLA at AT&T Stadium on Saturday. There’s the group that remembers Swoopes running for 5,341 yards at small Whitewright High School, with an enrollment of about 225. Others note his size, at 6-4 and 245 pounds, and point to untapped passing talent, especially on deep routes.
Eventually, Swoopes found something fitting.
“I’d just say being able to make a play when there’s no play to be made,” Swoopes said.
