Now, the tough part: Breaking down Baylor’s Big 12 schedule

Flying out of the gates with a distinct swagger, Baylor flattened its three nonconference opponents and bolted up the national rankings.

The Bears dominated SMU, Northwestern State and Buffalo by a combined score of 178-27 and moved from No. 10 in the Associated Press preseason poll to No. 7.

Baylor headed into its bye week leading the nation with 654.3 yards and 59.3 points per game. The defense has held up its end by ranking fifth nationally by allowing 221 yards per game and third nationally by limiting opponents to a nine-point average.
