Sooners’ running game, uniforms get high marks

Not an easy game, but a great test, and OU passed, with a 45-33 victory over West Virginia on Saturday night. And the grades reflect the tough game that it was.


When Eric Striker sacked WVU quarterback Clint Trickett on the game’s second play, you thought the Sooners might be pinning their ears back. But the pass rush largely disappeared over the next two quarters. The Mountaineer offense is a quick-strike attack, but WVU had allowed eight sacks in three games. The OU pass rush reappeared in the second half; Geneo Grissom had a sack that forced a Trickett fumble, and Quentin Hayes sacked Trickett to stifle a fourth-quarter possession.
