With the game on the line, 38 seconds left, down four points, out of timeouts, 65 yards from the end zone, the Sooners ran a most curious play. A quarterback draw.
TCU stuffed Trevor Knight, bringing up fourth down with the clock burning off the precious time, and soon enough had a 37-33 victory. Bob Stoops defended the call. Said the quarterback draw had been successful all game, plus had the surprise element. Stoops figured, make 15 yards, stop the clock, take your chances.
And I agree, and not just because the QB draw is my favorite play in football. I liked it because it beat the alternative. The OU passing game had withered to nothingness.
