For Texas, the big win over WVU was all about the little things

For Texas to reach a bowl game, it’s going to take monumental effort. There was plenty of it on display Saturday during a 33-16 win over 23rd-ranked West Virginia.

Like when receiver Marcus Johnson caught a pass just short of the first down. Instead of going down with a tackler on his back, he fought for extra yardage and dove beyond the stick.

What about Adrian Colbert diving to stop a punt at the 1-yard line? Or Jordan Hicks’ effort on back-to-back tackles to stop a West Virginia drive at the Texas 9 just after halftime?

And then, late, Mykkele Thompson came flying out of nowhere to stop Clint Trickett on a critical third down. How about Quandre Diggs and Jason Hall’s effort on the game’s final play, keeping White out of the end zone in garbage time?
