Attorneys representing Texas offensive line coach Joe Wickline filed a legal brief in Oklahoma last week asking for an outright dismissal from the $593,478 penalty being sought by Oklahoma State officials.
In lieu of that, Wickline’s attorneys also state their client cannot get a fair trial in Payne County, home of Oklahoma State University. The brief suggests the case be moved to Travis County in Austin or a federal court.
The filing states Wickline does not “question the propriety of the judges of Payne County. Nevertheless, in the event of a jury trial, it is difficult to imagine a panel free from OSU influence in Payne County.”
