The Longhorns got some great news on Wednesday with that announcement that star freshman linebacker Erick Fowler has overcome an academic issue and is now able to join the Longhorns.
Fowler told the American-Statesman that Texas defensive coordinator Vance Bedford called Wednesday informing him that the score he achieved from the SAT he took in May will qualify for NCAA admission. Fowler has been in a state of flux and did not report to campus with the rest of his class earlier this month.
Fowler said he’ll be at UT on Thursday to finalize his transcripts.
Last Friday in Houston, Texas coach Charlie Strong told reporters he was optimistic Fowler would clean up his academic record and be able to join the team.
Fowler was one of the late recruits Strong was able to flip, getting him to decommit from LSU and join UT.
