With the college football season just over a week away from kicking off, the AP Poll was released, with the Oklahoma Sooners coming in at number 3 and leading the way for four Big 12 teams who are ranked in the preseason poll.
The other Big 12 teams ranked include TCU at No. 13, Oklahoma State at No. 21, and Baylor at No. 23.
By comparison, in the Amway Coaches Poll, OU is No. 3, TCU ranks No. 14, Oklahoma State at No. 19, and Baylor is No. 21.
But, unlike in the Coaches Poll, where the Sooners did not receive any first place votes, OU did receive four first-place votes by the AP.
By comparison, the SEC led the way with six teams ranked in the AP Preseason Top 25 (Alabama, LSU, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Georgia, Florida).
The ACC starts the season with an impressive two teams ranked in the Top 5 (Clemson, Florida State), and two others in the Top 25 (Louisville and North Carolina).
In the Big Ten, four teams were ranked, with Ohio State and Michigan in the Top 10, and Michigan State and Iowa starting in the Top 20.
The Pac-12 is, arguably, the most unpredictable Power 5 Conference heading into 2016, and has five teams in the Top 25, with Stanford leading the way at No. 8. Other Pac-12 teams ranked include Washington, UCLA, USC and Oregon.
