The AP announced its All-Big 12 team, led by 7 picks from the Oklahoma Sooners, including Dede Westbrook as offensive player of the year and Bob Stoops as coach of the year.
Oklahoma led the way with 7 first-team selections on The Associated Press All-Big 12 team.
Dede Westbrook was named the Big 12 offensive player of the year, barely beating out his own quarterback, Baker Mayfield. Both Westbrook and Mayfield are Heisman trophy finalists.
Texas running back D’Onta Foreman, who rushed for 2,000 yards this season, joined Westbrook as the only unanimous first-team picks.
Kansas State, who had the best defense in the Big 12, had three first-team picks on defense. That list included defensive end Jordan Willis, who was also named the AP defensive player of the year by one vote over West Virginia cornerback Rasul Douglas of West Virginia.
For a record fifth time, Oklahoma’s Bob Stoops is coach of the year.
Texas Tech was the only Big 12 team to have zero first-team selections.
