Houston President Renu Khator took a not so subtle shot at former Houston football coaches Art Briles and Kevin Sumlin.
With the Cougars completing their search for a new head coach, choosing offense coordinator Major Applewhite to replace Tom Herman, President Khator took a shot at some former UH football coaches, specifically Art Briles and Kevin Sumlin.
UH President Renu Khator on Tom Herman at UT: “I hope he does better than (Kevin) Sumlin is doing for A&M or (Art) Briles did for Baylor”
— Brett McMurphy (@McMurphyESPN) December 10, 2016
Ouch… we all know about the Briles/Baylor disaster over the past few months. Meantime, Sumlin is 21-19 in SEC games since taking over in 2012. Without his first season where he went 6-2, A&M is just 15-17 in conference play.
Briles coached at Houston from 2003-07 before leaving for Baylor. Sumlin followed Briles, coaching the Cougars from 2008-2011, before he left town for the job in College Station. Now, it’s Tom Herman who skipped town for Austin.
I understand Khator’s frustration and I almost feel bad for Houston fans. Key word being almost. Come on… you just couldn’t have been gullible enough to buy into the H-Town Takeover nonsense … right? Right?!
