Texas Tech Spring Game Preview: 5 Things to Watch

2. The Offensive Line
Let’s face it; this group had their fair share of struggles last season. Giving up 30 sacks in 12 games as well as the offense being ranked 123rd in rushing was a big reason why Pat Mahomes was running all over the place. With former Offensive Line Coach Lee Hays gone, new offensive line coach Brandon Jones will definitely have his work cut out for him. Texas Tech held a scrimmage last Saturday and used starters LT Travis Buffy (SO), LG Jacob Hines (JR), C Paul Stawarz (JR), RG Jack Anderson (FR) and RT Terence Steele (SO). Combined this group has a combined 20 starts under their belt with all 20 coming from Center Paul Stawarz (8 starts at LG and RG) and Right Tackle Terrance Steele (12 starts at RT). I would expect this same unit to start in the spring game but I wouldn’t be surprised if they rotate a few guys in. Overall this a young bunch but they have a promising future. Keep an eye on prized 2017 early enrollee Jack Anderson, who has been turning some heads in practice.
