Oklahoma State spring game preview: 5 things to watch

If you’re a Cowboys football fan and you’ve never been to the annual Oklahoma State spring game, you should make the trip. It’s always fun, it’s always free, and the weather is usually nice! Plus, IT’S COWBOYS FOOTBALL! This year’s game takes place Saturday at 1:00 and I expect to see you all there!

Let’s run down some things to watch for during this year’s festivities:

1. Can the young cornerbacks hold up?

The Big 12 is a frightening place for defensive backs, and with the move of Ramon Richards to safety, there is a severe lack of experience at one of the most important positions on the field.  Big 12 teams throw the ball and if your secondary isn’t up to the task things can get out of hand quickly. Mason Rudolph is good and the Cowboys have arguably the best group of receivers in the nation. So really, holding up against OSU’s air attack will be a challenge for everyone they face this year. Maybe getting more run in the Oklahoma State spring game against all that talent will forge the new starters into a solid group. James Washington will light them up for sure, but if the young guys could get a few pass break ups, a couple of picks, and maybe even slow down the air assault a little bit it, would be a great sign for next year! Landing Clemson senior grad transfer Adrian Baker gives this unit a bit more reason for optimism than it had, but Saturday will be a great chance for some new faces to prove themselves.
