5. Kicker
If you don’t think that having a good kicker is important, just ask any Texas fan about the kicking game over the past few years. Remember the missed extra point by Nick Rose in 2015 that would have tied the game late against Cal? Or how about the 3 blocked extra points last season by Trent Domingue in Stillwater? I could list more but I don’t want to give Texas fans any more nightmares when it comes to kicking a football.
Luckily for Texas, Tom Herman thinks he has found the answer at kicker. The first commitment in the Tom Herman regime was believe it or not, a kicker. Herman was able to get the #1 rated JUCO kicker in the country according to 247 in Joshua Rowland (Gulf Coast C.C.). I would expect him to be the starting kicker Saturday and I am sure people are eager to see him split the uprights in the Texas spring game to put some minds at ease.
