2. Doug Meacham
Doug Meacham leaving TCU for the same job as offensive coordinator at Kansas was, arguably, the most shocking news of the offseason in the Big 12 conference.
Now that Meacham is in Lawrence and running the offense, while David Beaty has stepped aside, how does the unit change?
With Meacham at TCU the past 3 seasons, the Horned Frogs offense was on fire. In 2015, for the second straight year, TCU set single-season school records in several major statistical categories. Additionally, the Horned Frogs ranked third nationally in total offense (562.8 yards per game) and seventh in scoring (42.1 points per game).
Meacham is now in charge of turning around a Jayhawks offense that ranked ninth-worst nationally in scoring in 2016.
Do I expect a TCU-type change in Year 1 for the Jayhawks. No, that wouldn’t be realistic. But it’s going to be fun on Saturday to see some of the plays (albeit very vanilla plays) Meacham has in store for KU.
