In typical Bill Snyder fashion, not only is he beating cancer himself, now he’s trying to help others beat it as well. Snyder is teaming up with News Talker WIBW-AM in Topeka, Kansas for an event to raise money for cancer research.
In a statement, Alpha Media Topeka market manage Larry Riggins said, “Cancer can be devastating to individuals and families. We are pleased to join Coach Snyder and the Johnson Cancer Research Center in the fight against this terrible disease. Please join with us and help find a cure.”
It was just over two months ago that Kansas State University announced that Snyder had been battling throat cancer.
At the time, Snyder said in the statement, “Both ‘teams’ have projected a positive outcome and have worked out a schedule that allows me to be in Kansas City for my regular treatments and still be back in the office on a regular basis through the first week of March. Sean, along with our coaching and support staffs, remain highly productive in carrying out their responsibilities keeping us on track.”
Snyder has been coaching spring ball and the treatments for cancer are over.
The only thing Snyder has admitted to is heading home earlier than some of his staff because his body is tired and worn down from some of the prior treatments, saying, “I wish I could spend more time at it. I can do most of the things I have been able to do. Some of it I have to do outside of the office. You still put in the time. All of it is not here, though.”
This is a great fundraiser being held by Bill Snyder and WIBW and the campaign will include radio and direct mail.
