Texas- DE Malcolm Roach
Even though he was the lowest rated recruit in the 2016 class for the Longhorns, you could make an argument that he had the biggest impact out of the entire freshman last season. Roach was recognized by PFF (Pro Football Focus) as one of the nation’s best freshman defenders earning a spot on their freshman All-American team. He excels in stopping the run with 8 TFLs and also recorded 3 sacks last season. In new defensive coordinator Todd Orlando’s scheme, Roach is poised to have a breakout year in 2017 and I wouldn’t be surprised if he ended up having a double digit sack season in 2017.
