Texas Tech football player suspect in Lubbock bar fight

NCAA Football: Baylor vs Texas Tech

A Lubbock police report names a Texas Tech football player as a suspect in a police report after allegedly assaulting several people. The suspect’s name is redacted in the report because the man has not been charged with a crime, according to the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal.

The incident occurred around 2 a.m. at Bash Riprock’s (whose tagline is “Where the Fun Never Stops”, ironic), when the reported victim was approached by a man.

According to how the whole thing went down in the police report, a suspect began speaking to a man, who was unable to hear him because the music was too loud in the venue. Then the suspect became angry because the man could not hear him, and grabbed the man by his shirt and shoved him outside of Bash Riprock’s and into the street.

From there, several other people in the group went outside and the suspect and others assaulted the victim, punched him in the head and knocked him out.

The group did not notify the police until after 1 p.m. on Saturday when the man woke up.

But the alleged assault by the suspect wasn’t his only of the night. There were apparently two more who received his wrath. Outside the bar there was reportedly another man, also listed in the report as a victim, who when attempting to light a cigarette, had the cigarette knocked out of his mouth when he was was slapped in the face by the suspect. From there, a third person in the group attempted to hand the second person a cigarette, and right on cue that cigarette was broken by the second person, who gave it back to the third person, who threw it at the suspect who then punched the third person.

To add another layer to this story, the first victim’s girlfriend when to help the third victim and the two ended up on the ground being punched “upper-cut” style by the suspect and two others.

Long story short: a Texas Tech player allegedly beat the crap out of quite a few people. This is the last thing the Red Raiders need days before camp opens up and weeks before what could be a trying season in Lubbock.
