The Week 2 AP Poll was released on Tuesday afternoon, and the TCU Horned Frogs are back in the Top 25. TCU was just on the outside looking in on the preseason poll, ranked 26th. But after smoking Jackson State 63-0, combined with a couple of Big 12 teams, West Virginia and Texas, losing, the Horned Frogs are in at No. 23.
Texas was No. 23 in the preseason poll but is unsurprisingly now unranked after losing to Maryland 51-41. Meantime, West Virginia fell to Virginia Tech 31-24 and also fell out of the Top 25.
Following Week 1, the Big 12 goes from having five teams ranked in the Top 25 to four.
The other three Big 12 teams to make the Week 2 AP Poll: No. 5 Oklahoma, No. 11 Oklahoma State and No. 19 Kansas State. Oklahoma moved up two spots, which gives up a Top 5 match up in Week 2 after getting a Top 3 match up (Alabama – Florida State) in Week 1. While Oklahoma State actually dropped one spot and the Kansas State Wildcats moved up one spot.
Alabama received 60 of 61 first-places votes, with Ohio State, Oklahoma’s opponent on Saturday, the only other team to receive a single first-place vote. Meantime, the SEC bias continues with six teams in the poll, the most of any conference in the nation. Meantime with TCU now ranked, it adds a little more juice for the casual fan in this weekend’s game against Arkansas.
