TCU RB Darius Anderson likely done for rest of regular season
The TCU Horned Frogs didn’t just lose the game 38-20 to the Oklahoma Sooners, they also lost one of their key players.
TCU running back Darius Anderson is unlikely to play the rest of the regular season, coach Gary Patterson said after the Oklahoma game.
Anderson left during the second quarter with an apparent leg injury and he reportedly had a boot on his right foot after the game. Anderson rushed for 42 yards and a touchdown on seven carries before leaving injured.
Patterson did not give specifics on the injury, but he will miss the final two games of the regular season against Texas Tech and Baylor. It’s not clear what Anderson’s status would be for a potential Big 12 championship game on December 2nd. The Horned Frogs still control their path to a Big 12 championship game, as they just need to beat Texas Tech and Baylor to end up in Arlington next month.
Anderson is a sophomore running back who has surprised as the team’s leading rusher with 768 yards and 8 rushing touchdowns.
The pressure now turns back to Kyle Hicks, who is likely to get the vast majority of the carries. Also, keep an eye out for Sewo Olonilua, who has mostly been used in short-yardage situations and in the Wildcat formation. Freshman Kenedy Snell may also seen an increase in carries as well.
