The College Football Playoff committee may have no respect for the Oklahoma Sooners, but Las Vegas sure does.
According to Bovada, the Sooners are now 4-1 odds, +400, to win the National Championship, the best odds in the country.
|Ohio State (10-2)||7-1|
Prior to their loss in the Iron Bowl, the Alabama Crimson Tide were the betting favorites with even odds (1-1). But obviously, the Tide haven’t dropped much, so Vegas thinks the committee will have an incredibly difficult time leaving Alabama out of the playoff, especially after the precedent they set last year including a 1-loss Ohio State that also did not reach its conference championship game.
I assume the odds for OU are also driven by the fact that Vegas has little respect for TCU, who the Sooners play this weekend. Essentially Vegas thinks OU will have an easier time against TCU than any other team playing in a conference championship that is competing for a National Title. Just look at the drop off from Miami to TCU.
But first off, the Sooners have to take care of business against the Horned Frogs, who they’ll play Saturday in the Big 12 championship. Kick off is set for 11:30 AM CT from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas (hope to see lots of you there at our Heartland College Sports tailgate!). Stay tuned for more details…
