Mike Gundy turns down Tennessee to stay at Oklahoma State

NCAA Football: West Virginia at Oklahoma State

After Mike Gundy sent Oklahoma State fans into a frenzy on Tuesday by meeting with Tennessee about its opening, the Cowboys head coach went on Twitter Tuesday night to announce that he would be remaining in Stillwater… maybe for life?

According to Brett McMurphy, Gundy turned down a reported six-year deal worth $42 million.

Gundy met with Tennessee officials on Tuesday in Dallas and rumors were flying with reports saying Gundy would absolutely go, to others believing there was no chance.

Mike Gundy has a history of flirting with other job openings from Tennessee and Arkansas five years ago to Baylor last year and Florida reportedly approached him this offseason too. Regardless, whether Gundy was just angling for a higher salary or facilities upgrades, he’s staying in Stillwater… for now. But this act is getting old. More coming up on this Wednesday morning on Heartland College Sports.
