West Virginia WR David Sills V returning for senior season
The West Virginia Mountaineers offense got a big boost in 2018, after wide receiver David Sills V announced he will return for his senior season.
Sills led the nation with 18 touchdown catches this season, along with 60 catches for 960 yards.
This is great news, but also pretty expected, as Sills spent a year at quarterback last season and could use one more season grooming himself as a wide receiver. Sills is in his second stint in Morgantown, as he played wide receiver as a freshman in 2015 before transferring to El Camino College to give quarterback a shot. He came back to West Virginia after last season to get back to being a wide out. We interviewed Sills in a 10-minute conversation about his experience from wide receiver to quarterback and back to wide receiver.
Of course, helping his cause, is the fact that Will Grier also announced he will be back for he 2018 season in Morgantown.
In a statement, Sill said, “I look forward to our bowl game, and having another year with my teammates here in Morgantown…WVU holds a special place in my heart, and I am looking forward to seeing what this team can accomplish next year.”
Sills gives the Mountaineers a solid 1-2 punch at wide receiver for Grier, with Gary Jennings also heading into his senior season next fall.
The Mountaineers finished the season 7-5, after losing Grier to injury and dropping their final two games of the season against Texas and Oklahoma.
West Virginia will face Utah in the Heart of Dallas Bowl on December 26th.
