On Friday night, I got the chance to speak with Rice DT grad transfer Preston Gordon. As of right now, Preston holds a total of four offers (two from Big 12 schools). Here is my chat with Preston Gordon about his decision and it appears that the Jayhawks and Red Raiders will battle it out along with a few others. Who are they? Find out right here in this interview.
Heartland College Sports: Which schools have offered you?
Gordon: “So far it’s Texas Tech, Kansas, Tulane and TSU and I just talked to Texas State today (January 19th).”
HCS: Are those your top schools?
Gordon: “Yes sir, I’m interested in them all.”
HCS: Which schools have you visited so far and what visits will you be taking in the next few weeks?
Gordon: “I haven’t been to any yet and I will be visiting Texas Tech next week and I’ll be setting a visit up with Kansas and Tulane up for the following weeks.”
HCS: What are your thoughts about Texas Tech and the staff there?
Gordon “Tech has a great staff. I’ve had the chance to meet with Coach Jamison (TTU DL Coach) and I’ll be meeting with him again next week. He’s a great guy and is very honest and upfront about the school and how he can help develop me as a player. I got to talk to Coach Kingsbury and he too is a great guy. I feel like their program is full of high quality student athletes and that they are in the process of building something special for next season.”
HCS: What are your thoughts about Kansas and the staff there?
Gordon: “Kind of the same goes for Kansas. Daniel Wise (KU DT) is a great friend of mine. He’s like family and one of my old high school teammates plays there so I know a few people on the actual team. Kansas seems like a great place and a program that is building one brick at a time. It looks like they are going to be having a lot of people returning so I can imagine that they are going to be solid for this upcoming season.”
HCS: When do you plan on announcing which school you will be transferring to?
Gordon: “I haven’t set an official date just yet; however, I want to know where I’m going before March.”
