Kansas State basketball player Amaad Wainright has found himself in the middle of a road rage shooting in Overland Park, KS. Wainright’s car is reportedly part of the investigation into the incident, which thankfully left no one hurt, according to KCTV in Kansas City.
The shooting took place around 5 p.m. on January 17th along I-435. According to the victim, Eric, “The passenger opened the door, held up a gun and shot one bullet at the back door.”
The bullet went through the door and into the seat behind the driver, which had no one else in the car, so there were no injuries. There were at least two people in Wainright’s vehicle and a brief statement from Kansas State made is clear the University and the player are cooperating, saying, “We are aware of the situation involving Amaad Wainright. Amaad fully cooperated with authorities and was not charged. To our knowledge, this matter is resolved.”
Wainwright is from Kansas City and the Wildcats had beaten the Oklahoma Sooners the night before the incident.
The police are reportedly still in the middle of their investigation and Wainright’s involvement remains unclear. But area investigators are looking to speak to anyone who may have seen or have any information on the shooting.
