Bill Snyder Stays Mum on Kansas State QB Situation

In typical Bill Snyder fashion, the head coach has stayed very quiet on who is going to be his starting quarterback for Saturday’s opener against South Dakota.

On Monday, in the Big 12 teleconference, the head coach said, “I’m not sure really. I haven’t given it that much thought. I have a pretty good idea of which way we are going to go, but I’m not 100 percent certain yet.”

Snyder went on to say, “It’s been unbelievably even. Both of them have done extremely well. Both of them are extremely competitive. Both of them desire to be the first guy on the field. Both of them are team-oriented guys. If you begin to think one of them is rising above the other, just wait a day and that will change. That has been the case.”

In the depth chart, K-State listed Alex Delton or Skylar Thompson.
Delton is a junior, who last season threw for 637 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for 500 yards and eight touchdowns. After losing his starting job briefly to Thompson last season, he shined in the Cactus Bowl, when rushed for 158 yards and three touchdowns in a K-State win over UCLA.Thompson is a sophomore who led the Wildcats to wins over Texas Tech, Oklahoma State and Iowa State last season. He threw for nearly 700 yards and five touchdowns, while rushing for 267 yards and three TDs. Thompson was also named a captain during the offseason.Kansas State opens the season Saturday against South Dakota.
