Mountaineers, Longhorns lead Big 12 in Top 10 of AP Poll

NCAA Football: Texas Christian at Baylor

Three undefeated teams ranked in the Top 15 of the AP Poll lost on Saturday, which caused the AP Poll to have a bit of a shake up near the top of the polls. LSU lost to Florida, Oklahoma fell to Texas in a classic, and Kentucky dropped a road game at Texas A&M.

For the Big 12, there are three ranked teams this week, with West Virginia all the way up to No. 6, after beating Kansas 38-22, Texas has jumped into the Top 10 after the thrilling 48-45 win over Oklahoma, and the Sooners drop four spots to No. 11. Oklahoma State dropped from the rankings after losing to Iowa State at home. The only Big 12 team to receive votes is the TCU Horned Frogs.

This makes sense as the Big 12 Conference is clearly coming down to a three-horse race between the Mountaineers, Longhorns and Sooners. Since OU and Texas have already played, West Virginia travels to Austin to play Texas the first weekend in November, and then Oklahoma and West Virginia play each other on Thanksgiving weekend. There is still time for chaos in the coming weeks, but these three teams are clearly the front runners as we enter mid-October.
