Les Miles, Troy Calhoun Betting Favorites to Land Kansas Job

NCAA Football: Air Force at Army

As the Kansas Jayhawks continue to search for their next head coaching job, the Las Vegas oddsmakers have chimed in on who they think will be running the show in Lawrence in 2019. The familiar name at the top of the list is Les Miles, who took a buyout yesterday from LSU, giving up $5 million guaranteed, clearly signaling he desperately wants to and plans to coach again somewhere very soon.

Who will be the next full-time head coach for the Kansas Jayhawks?

Les Miles                                  3/2
Troy Calhoun                            4/1
Jedd Fisch                                4/1
Dave Doeren                             8/1
Bret Bielema                             12/1
Neal Brown                               20/1
Matt Canada                             20/1
Jason Candle                            20/1
Manny Diaz                               20/1
Willie Fritz                                 20/1
Lane Kiffin                                20/1
Clark Lea                                  20/1
Seth Littrell                                20/1
Scott Satterfield                        20/1

A couple interesting notes here. Dave Doeren at N.C. State is a Kansas guy, but he’s got such a good thing going right now would he give that up to try and turn around the worst program in Power 5 football? Seeing Lane Kiffin with the same odds at 20/1 as Seth Litrrell at North Texas is surprising to me. A part of me likes the idea of Kiffin, but a large part of me hates the idea as well. Regardless, while Miles is a heavy favorite right now at 3/2 odds, it’s not so overwhelming that the idea of Air Force’s Troy Calhoun, Rams assistant Jedd Fisch or Doeren is absolutely out of the question. It will definitely be a fun couple of weeks to follow in Lawrence.
