Big 12 Recruiting: Big Decision Today for JUCO Linebacker Caleb Johnson

On Sunday night, I got the chance to speak with outside linebacker Caleb Johnson (6’1”, 215 lbs.) out of Murrieta, California (Fullerton College). As of right now, Caleb holds a total of eleven offers, including one from Texas. Here is my chat with Caleb about his recruitment and it appears that the Longhorns will battle it out along with a few others for his commitment today at 7 pm CT. Who are they? Find out right here in this interview.
HCS: You recently released your top four schools (Texas, Oregon, Colorado & Arkansas). What key factors are going into your decision on Monday?
Johnson: “Good fit schematically, good degree, prepare me for the life after, and what my mom thinks.”
HCS: You have Texas in your top four. What sticks out to you about the Longhorns?
Johnson: “Meets everything I said earlier. Along with a great coaching staff and I believe a real good platform for me.”
HCS: What is your relationship like with the staff at Texas?
Johnson: “Really good. I have been talking to them for a pretty long time now. Since spring time.”
HCS: The common perception of the Big 12 is their lack of defense. What are your overall thoughts about the conference and trying to stop all these high-powered offenses?
Johnson: “I believe behind coach Orlando (Texas DC) that we’d be able to change that. Also, being able to perform well against these great offenses would show what I could do.”
HCS: Speaking of coach Orlando, how do you think you would see yourself fitting into that defense?
Johnson: “I think very well. They broke down their defense really good as soon as they offered me, and I believe it’s an ideal situation for me.”
