Les Miles has some disappointing news to deal with after Kansas defensive lineman Malcolm Lee was arrested early Saturday morning by Lawrence police on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, as first reported by the Kansas City Star.
Lee was released on bond, and in a statement, KU director of football communications Katy Lonergan said, “We are aware of the situation and are currently in the process of gathering information. We will handle the situation according to our internal policies.”
Lee has been with the program the last several months as a part of the Class of 2019. He is a sophomore who transferred in from Iowa Western Community College, where he was a three-star prospect and chose KU over offers from Iowa, Louisville, Houston and UCF.
Last season he finished with 43 total tackles, five sacks and 10 tackles-for-loss and has been expected to compete for starting time this fall with the Jayhawks losing several players along the defensive line.
