Red River Rivalry week is still in the early phases, but the trash talk is already here.
Texas safety B.J. Foster is one of the hardest hitting players in the Big 12 and warned Sooners QB Jalen Hurts to “slide” when Texas and Oklahoma meeting up in the Cotton Bowl on Saturday.
Foster said, “He’s [Jalen Hurts] not dumb. He’s gonna have to slide, or it’s not gonna be good for him.”
Fellow safety Brandon Jones was a little more diplomatic, saying, “A guy like Jalen, he’s probably gonna try to run you over. So, the biggest thing is just getting him on the ground.”
Texas players met with the media on Tuesday and Foster had more to say about OU’s running game. He was asked about the Sooners averaging a nation-best 7.8 yards per carry this season, and responded, “We’re sound on the run game. Oklahoma State — what did they do against our defense?”
Oklahoma State held Chuba Hubbard to 121 yards on 37 carries for a measly 3.3 yards per carry.
Texas left tackle Samuel Cosmi when asked about OU’s new-look defense under Alex Grinch said, “Nothing super special. They have good players, solid players. But nothing to worry about too much.”
This game is one of the great rivalries in college football and the two teams met twice last season. Texas beat OU 48-45 last October, but lost to the Sooners in the Big 12 championship.
It’s only Tuesday and the trash talk is already here!
