Kansas Jayhawks Picked to Win Big 12 For Ninth-Straight Season
Another Big 12 basketball season is upon us, and once again it’s the Kansas Jayhawks topping the Big 12 Preseason Poll. The Jayhawks were picked to win the conference for a ninth-straight season and received eight of 10 first-place votes.
The Big 12 has been synonymous with the Jayhawks basketball program in recent seasons as they have won 18 outright or shared Big 12 titles the past 23 seasons. That includes 14 in a row from 2005 to 2018.
Baylor and Texas Tech were picked second and third, respectively, with each receiving one first place vote. Rounding out the top five was Texas (fourth) and West Virginia (fifth), followed by 6. Oklahoma State, 7. Iowa State, 8. Oklahoma, 9. Kansas State and 10.
Last season, Kansas State and Texas Tech shared the 2019 Big 12 regular season title while Iowa State went on to win the Big 12 Tournament in Kansas City.
The Big 12 will unofficially get the season started next Wednesday, October 23 at Sprint Center in Kansas City. Live coverage will be available on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
