College Football Playoff Rankings Week 11: Four Big 12 Teams Ranked

NCAA Football: College Football Playoff-Selection Sunday

The first College Football Playoff rankings of the 2019 season are out and the Big 12 has three teams ranked in the Top 25.

The Big 12 had four teams ranked with Oklahoma coming in the top spot at No. 9, undefeated Baylor at No. 11, Kansas State ranked at No. 16 and then Oklahoma State, the surprise of the bunch, at No. 23.

Here’s a look at the full rankings with more thoughts below the rankings.

The most shocking tidbit is Oklahoma State finding itself inside the Top 25. The Pokes are the only three-loss team in the rankings. Oklahoma State lost three of four games to Baylor, Texas Tech and Texas, but have now won two in a row over Iowa State on the road and then TCU at home last weekend to get into the Top 25.

To me, this is a testament to Iowa State and the committee being impressed by the road win two weeks ago. That’s the only thing that makes sense. Why? Because the committee is so unimpressed with Texas that LSU isn’t even No. 1 after beating UT on the road in September. Oklahoma State lost to that same Texas team and that was Texas pre-injuries. I’m admittedly confused by the OSU ranking, but it’s good for the Big 12.

OU is where I would expect them, along with Baylor. The committee showed Kansas State lots of well-deserved love as the Wildcats are on a roll beating Oklahoma two weeks ago and then smacking Kansas this past weekend.

There are six Big 10 teams ranked, five in the SEC, four in the Big 12, three in the AAC, 2.5 in the ACC (Notre Dame is .5 in my book) and two in the Pac-12.
