College Football Playoff Rankings Week 12: Five Big 12 Teams Ranked

The second College Football Playoff rankings of the 2019 season are out and the Big 12 has five teams ranked in the Top 25.

The Oklahoma Sooners are, once again, in the top spot, but fell to No. 10 after being at No. 9 last week, undefeated Baylor fell from No. 11 to No. 13, Texas, which beat ranked Kansas State is now No. 19, and then Oklahoma State, who was on a bye week, moves up to No. 22. And the aforementioned Kansas State fell from No. 16 to No. 24.

Wow. Well to the committee’s credit, it certainly looks at the Big 12 as a deep conference, considering they chose to rank half the teams in the conference. That’s the good news.

The bad news is that OU, while it had to hold off Iowa State, fell in the rankings this past week, as did Baylor, who needed triple overtime to beat TCU. That’s weird to be because the conference is getting credit for depth but then it’s getting punished for its top teams not winning convincingly enough… I guess?

The shame is at the top of the rankings, where now three of the Top 5 teams in the country are in the SEC, which is lining up for a situation where two SEC teams get into the Playoff.

But let’s see how this weekend plays out when OU faces Baylor in Waco, which is where College GameDay will be.
