Report: Lincoln Riley Remains ‘Strong Candidate’ For Cowboys’ Potential Opening
After the Dallas Cowboys suffered a brutal loss to the Chicago Bears on Thursday Night Football, the speculation around head coach Jason Garrett continues to swirl.
As a result, Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley remains a name that continues to pop up. According to NFL Network reporter Jane Slater, Riley remains a “strong candidate”, along with Urban Meyer and Clemson offensive coordinator Tony Elliott.
Jerry Jones says Jason Garrett will remain the coach but I can confirm a very real interest in Urban Meyer. In fact, I'm told Stephen Jones spoke with him recently. Lincoln Riley remains a strong candidate & file this name as a possibility Clemson OC Tony Elliott per sources.

As we noted a couple of weeks ago, Riley was recently given the third-best odds to be the next head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, behind Urban Meyer and Josh McDaniels.
The Oklahoma Sooners are trying to win their fifth-straight Big 12 Championship on Saturday when they play the Baylor Bears, with the winner having a good chance of reaching the College Football Playoff.
