Lincoln Riley is an Even Money Favorite to be Dallas Cowboys’ Next Head Coach

NCAA Football: Rose Bowl-Oklahoma vs Georgia

With Jason Garrett officially out as the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, oddsmakers in Las Vegas can now start taking those bets to see who the next head coach is going to be.

Well with Garrett out, the updated odds came out and it’s Lincoln Riley who is a heavy favorite to be the choice of Jerry Jones.

The Sooners are coming off a very bad loss to LSU in the College Football Playoff semifinal, but it’s still the third straight year Riley has led the team to the Playoff since taking over for Bob Stoops.

However, Riley is losing some of his best players to the NFL, like CeeDee Lamb and Kenneth Murray, who both declared early, and he will have to work in a new quarterback next year.

So, if Riley is trying to strike while the iron is hot, this might be his best bet, especially when the job is arguably the most prestigious one in all of American professional sports.

As the season was coming to a close and it looked like the Cowboys were going to be moving on from Garrett, Riley was one of five Big 12 coaches given odds to be the next head coach in Dallas, but at that time Riley was 5/1 odds and he wasn’t even given the best odds.

All that appears to have changed, which makes me wonder, who knows what?
