Texas QB Sam Ehlinger to Return for Senior Season

Texas Longhorns quarterback Sam Ehlinger announced on Monday night that he would be returning for his senior season in 2020.

Ehlinger made the announcement in a video posted to Twitter.

According to Horns247, Ehlinger was asked about his input from the College Advisory Committee last week ahead of the Alamo Bowl. While Ehlinger did not show his hand, Tom Herman implied Ehlinger would be returning during his final press conference before the game.

Ehlinger finished the game 12/18 for 201 yards and three touchdowns, along with 73 rushing yards and a running TD.

Ehlinger completed 65.2 percent of his passes in 2019, threw for 3,663 yards and 32 touchdowns while rushing for 663 yards and seven touchdowns. His 332.8 yards of total offense per game ranks fourth nationally behind only Washington State’s Anthony Gordon, LSU’s Joe Burrow and Oklahoma’s Jalen Hurts.

This news comes on the same day that another key offensive player, OT Samuel Cosmi announced he would return in 2020.

The Longhorns are coming off an 8-5 season, but expectations continue to grow heading into 2020.
