Iowa State’s Rasir Bolton Cites ‘Noose’ Reference for Why He Left Penn State

NCAA Basketball: Kansas State at Iowa State

Iowa State men’s basketball player Rasir Bolton took to Twitter Monday morning to discuss at length why he left Penn State and transferred to the Cyclones.

In Bolton’s tweet, which you can read in full below, he accuses Penn State head coach Pat Chambers of referencing a “noose” around his neck, writing in part, “I reported this immediately to my academic advisor. I confronted Coach Chambers. I spoke directly with the AD’s office myself. My parents contacted the AD’s office in writing and by phone. My parents drove 5 hours to Penn State to meet with he AD’s office and Coach Chambers more than once. During this time, Coach Chambers admitted to what he said.”

Bolton added, “I tell this story because it is not alleged. It was admitted to and documented.”

Also, Bolton’s mother commented on the situation.

As this story unfolded on Monday morning, Penn State head coach Pat Chambers released a statement, saying, “I’ve realized the pain my words and ignorance caused Rasir Bolton and his family and I apologize to Rasir and the Bolton family for what I said… I will keep learning, and continue our conversations within our team and our Penn State family.”
