The Iowa State Cyclones have found an opponent to fill their lost game against Iowa, adding Ball State to the schedule.
This come after the Big Ten Conference announced in recent weeks that it would be cancelling all non-conference games for the 2020 college football season.
Ball State is no stranger to player Power 5 teams, but usually they have Big Ten teams on the schedule, due to the geographical fit in Muncie, Indiana. Obviously all those games have been cancelled, so it was a natural fit that Cardinals were also looking for an opponent to fill their voids in the schedule
Unfortunately, the typical premier non-conference game is now off the schedule for the Cyclones as their non-conference consists of South Dakota, Ball State and UNLV to start the season.
And to think this might’ve been the year Matt Campbell got over the proverbial “Iowa hump”?! Alas, we will never know what could have been for Cy-Hawk in 2020.
