ESPN’s Chris “The Bear” Fallica Picks Iowa State as CFB Playoff Darkhorse

It’s the time of year when every fan gets to dream about what the “best case” scenario is for their respective college football team. This year, despite the bizarre nature of it, is no different. OU fans dream of a year that they get over the College Football Playoff hump. KU fans dream of winning three games. And everyone in between can find a rhyme or reason for why if things just break right, they can shock the Big 12.
One of those teams is the Iowa State Cyclones, who we wrote about last week as being the darkhorse contender in the Big 12 Conference.
Well apparently we aren’t alone.
College GameDay kicked off on Saturday and ESPN’s Chris “The Bear” Fallica, who is known as the Vegas expert on college football spreads, had high praise for the Cyclones as a team no one should overlook.
Fallica said, “The Cyclones are a team that lost to Baylor, Iowa and Oklahoma by a combined four points… they were that close last year to being 10-2 or 11-1. And that was with inexperience early in the year at receiver and running back. I think their defense is going to be the best in the conference… if you’re looking for a super sleeper with credible odds, I think Iowa State at 10-1 to win the Big 12 and to make the Playoff might be someone to look at.”
You can hear [possibly/likely] Desmond Howard laughing in the background. Meantime, Desmond Howard hasn’t had an interesting take since the second he stepped foot on the show. Just sayin’.
