Scratch another Big 12 game off the Week 1 schedule.
On Friday, TCU’s opener against SMU was postponed due to COVID-19 concerns within the Horned Frogs program. And then late on Monday night we found out that Oklahoma State’s opener against Tulsa has been pushed back to September 19th.
That is one of the main reasons the Big 12 schedule has a handful of open dates in it, as to prepare for this exact kind of situation, which will continue to pop up throughout the 2020 college football season.
The schedule also includes a Big 12 Championship date of either December 12th or December 19th, which allows for more flexibility on the back end.
So now the Big 12 is down from 10 Week 1 games to eight, which you can see all the information and kickoff times for here.
No one expected this college football season to be seamless and it’s better to work through these things and use the open dates to suit every team’s needs and put safety first.
