Several WVU Players Suspended For Today’s Game Against EKU

NCAA Football: Oklahoma State at West Virginia

Just a little way to go before kickoff in the Big 12 and it appears that there is some interesting news coming out of Morgantown this morning. 247 Sports Mike Casazza is reporting that 11 players will be out today for the Mountaineers when they face Eastern Kentucky at 11 a.m. central time.

He reported that the absences are not linked to positive test results due to COVID-19 and instead are suspensions for a violation of team rules. His sources are reporting that there will be a good shakeup in the two deep for their depth chart that was released on Monday. The names listed in the report goes as followed, starting left tackle Junior Uzebu, starting center Chase Behrndt, starting inside receiver T.J. Simmons and backups Isaiah Esdale (wide receiver), Zach Dobson (linebacker), Mike O’Laughlin (tight end), T.J. Banks (tight end), Tairiq Stewart (offensive lineman), Zach Davis (offensive lineman), David Vincent-Okoli (cornerback) and backup long snapper J.P. Hadley.

Keep in mind, the Mountaineers are favored by 44.5 points today against Eastern Kentucky and it appears that the staff was preparing to play without these players for awhile before it leaked out this morning. Now I doubt this plays a huge factor into this game, but it was still a bit shocking to come so close before kickoff.
