In breaking news on Friday afternoon, Baylor’s opener has been postponed, according to Bruce Feldman.
Baylor’s game against Houston was already the third season opener the Bears had planned for the year. Baylor’s first opener was blown out with the entire schedule getting rescheduled in August, then last week’s opener against Louisiana Tech was cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns.
According to SicEm365, the move is, as expected, due to COVID-19 concerns, reporting, “the Bears would have been without a significant portion of a single position group making it unsafe to play. That information was the driving factor behind the cancellation.”
However SicEm365 adds that the game was cancelled not due to positive tests, but due to contact tracing concerns, meaning other players may have had contact with those players who tested positive, but not because those other players themselves tested positive.
This is now the fourth Big 12 game in the first two weeks that will not be played.
