Oklahoma athletics released its latest COVID-19 testing data on Monday, and reported having 20 active cases among all fall athletes, and three among staff.
This marks the first time the athletics department has disclosed any COVID figures since Aug. 24. OU reportedly tested 583 players and 177 staff members across all sports between September 13th and 19th. The school reports eight positive cases were found during that round of testing.
OU adds that it’s had 143 players and seven staff members recover from COVID-19 since it began testing this summer.
Another key metric being watched is the positivity rate, which has declined from 9% to 4% over the last three weeks.
Obviously, COVID-19 has been the story that everyone is keeping an eye on this college football season. Already, several Big 12 games have been postponed, or cancelled, with the Baylor vs. Houston game the most recent one and it was called the day before the game on Friday.
The Sooners open up Big 12 play this weekend, after a week off following their win over Missouri State, taking on the Kansas State Wildcats, who upset Oklahoma last season.
