The 2020 Big 12-SEC Challenge is set for Saturday, January 30th, 2021 and the match ups have been announced by the conference.
Here’s what the pairings will be this season:
West Virginia vs. Florida
Kansas State vs. Texas A&M
Oklahoma State vs. Arkansas
Oklahoma vs. Alabama
Baylor vs. Auburn
TCU at Missouri
Iowa State at Mississippi State
Kansas at Tennessee
Texas at Kentucky
Texas Tech at LSU
Overall, this is a great slate. And has some must-watch games, most notably Kansas at Tennessee, probably followed by West Virginia vs. Floida, Texas at Kentucky or Texas Tech at LSU, in whatever order you prefer.
Last year’s Big 12-SEC Challenge ended in a 5-5 tie. It feels like a lifetime ago (pre-COVID) that our own Matthew Postins went to West Texas and got the best Big 12/SEC game of the day, but the Red Raiders lost to the Kentucky Wildcats in overtime. However as a consolation, John Calipari had some nice compliments for the Texas Tech fan base that night.
All time, Big 12 teams are 40-30 (.571) in the Big 12-SEC Challenge. The Big 12 has a yearly Challenge record of 4-1-2 with wins in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2019. The first tie occurred in 2017 and then again last season.
