Top 25 AP Poll: Mountaineers Move Up Four Spots, Baylor at No. 2

West Virginia was the biggest mover when the latest Associated Press Top 25 poll came out Monday, with the Mountaineers going from No. 15 to No. 11 after a 3-0 week and a championship at the Bad Boy Mowers Crossover Classic.
The Mountaineers (3-0) are set to face No. 1 Gonzaga in the Jimmy V Classic on Dec. 2.
West Virginia forward Derek Culver was the MVP of the Bad Boy Mowers Crossover Classic, while guard Miles McBride hit double figures in all three game.
Baylor (2-0), which managed to squeeze in two games despite head coach Scott Drew testing positive for COVID-19, remained at No. 2. The Bears lost their first three scheduled games due to Drew’s positive test, but then managed to slip in a couple of games against Louisiana and Washington with associate head coach Jerome Tang on the sideline. The Bears are slated to play in the Jimmy V Classic against Illinois in Indianapolis on Dec. 2. After that the Bears are scheduled to get their own shot at Gonzaga on Dec. 5 in Indianapolis, a battle set for 1 p.m. EST.
Kansas (1-1), which lost to Gonzaga in its opener before defeating Saint Joseph’s in the Fort Myers Tip-Off Classic, fell from No. 6 to No. 7. Kansas faces a three-game week ahead, playing Kentucky on Dec. 1, Washburn on Dec. 3 and North Dakota State on Dec. 5. The Kentucky game is at the Champions Classic in Chicago, while the other two games are at home.
Texas Tech (2-1), which blew out its first two opponents of the season (both out of the Southland Conference) before falling then-No. 17 Houston, slipped three spots from No. 14 to No. 17. The Red Raiders play their Big 12-Big East Battle game, hosting Saint John’s on Dec. 3 before hosting Grambling State on Dec. 6.
Texas (1-0), the only other ranked team from the Big 12 entering the season, moved from No. 19 into a tie with Texas Tech at No. 17. The Longhorns won their only game of the week, beating UT-Rio Grande Valley on Nov. 25. But this week the Longhorns head to the Maui Invitational, which will be played in Asheville, North Carolina. Texas starts its action against Davidson on Nov. 30, with the hope of two more games in the tournament. The Longhorns end the week with a home game against Villanova on Dec. 6.
TCU (3-0) received one vote in the AP Top 25 poll.
