Urban Meyer’s Wife Eyeing Austin Real Estate as Texas Rumors Heat Up

NCAA Football: Ohio State at Indiana

A new report says Urban Meyer’s wife, Shelley, recently took a visit Austin to assess the real estate situation, according to Austonia. Meyer is currently an analyst for FOX Sports.

This report will only heighten the rumblings that current head football coach Tom Herman’s days with the Texas Longhorns may be numbered. Herman and the Horns are coming off a 23-20 loss to the Iowa State Cyclones, which knocked Texas out of the Big 12 Championship picture for a second straight season.

To add insult to injury, the loss comes against Iowa State, who was doormat in the conference for the better part of its entire Big 12 existence. And now they have the hottest coach in college football in Matt Campbell and have beaten the Longorns in two-straight years, while essentially punching their ticket to the Big 12 title game with the win.

Earlier on Monday, our own Derek Duke made the case that Tom Herman should be let go as the head coach of the Longhorns.

As Duke wrote, “At some point, people need to realize that Tom Herman will not get Texas back to national relevance. He has fired his staff once already, getting a brand new offensive and defensive coordinator and when that does not work, there is only one man left standing.”

Herman actually addressed the rumors about Urban Meyer two weeks ago and admitted, “It gets exhausting.”

Unfortunately, it does not help that Herman, despite only reaching the Big 12 Championship Game once, and not winning it, he also doesn’t beat his rival, Oklahoma. Herman is just 1-4 against the Sooners.

To compare to Urban Meyer, he was 7-0 at Ohio State against his arch rival Michigan. It’s also interesting and important to note that Herman was the offensive coordinator under Meyer early in his tenure with the Buckeyes.

So what now? Well, we all wait and see.

Texas goes on the road to take on Kansas State this weekend. And we also learned Texas is losing two of its best players who are opting out for the rest of the 2020 season.

If Texas loses this weekend, then expect the Tom Herman Watch to heat up even further, as Kansas State has been struggling mightily and has lost four games in a row since starting Big 12 play 4-0.

Kick off is set for 11:00 a.m. from Manhattan, Kansas.
